Northampton outfit SWB Motorsport have become the latest team to
commit to the BRDC Formula 4 Championship.
Founded by Team Principal Simon Baldry, the squad have an
excellent reputation thanks to success in the Formula Renault BARC
series, where they've enjoyed several podiums and race wins from
just a handful of seasons. They also have experience in the
Intersteps Championship and, more recently, have expanded into
karting, running a number of drivers across those three categories.
Meanwhile, Simon Baldry has worked in motorsport all his life and
was the number one mechanic for a variety of well established teams
before founding SWB Motorsport.
Simon Baldry said: "We're delighted to be joining the new BRDC
Formula 4 Championship as we feel it perfectly fills the gap
between karting and single seaters and will help teach our young
drivers slicks and wings racing. In these difficult times too it's
refreshing to see a sensible car price with sensible parts and
running costs, combined with all the hallmarks of the BRDC and
MSV."
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of series organisers MotorSport
Vision, said: "I'm pleased to welcome a successful and ambitious
team like SWB Motorsport to the F4 grid. They have clearly
recognised that F4 is the perfect step for young drivers starting
their single seater racing careers at a time when obtaining funding
and sponsorship is extremely tough."
