Honda Racing's Gordon Shedden leads the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after taking two wins at Rockingham as the title race heads towards its conclusion at Brands Hatch on 20-21 October.
Despite racing with a broken hand, Shedden's team mate Matt Neal is just three points behind the Scotsman, whilst a race one win for rival Jason Plato keeps the MG driver in the hunt. Honda driver Andrew Jordan also retains a good chance of challenging for the championship, raising the chances of a four-way fight next month.
With one round remaining before the title decider on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, eBay Motors team mates Rob Collard and Tom Onslow-Cole still retain a chance of making the fight, which would lead to six contenders battling it out, unprecedented in the modern BTCC era.
Shedden has won eight of the 24 races held so far in 2012, said: "I'm delighted - it seems ages since we won a race so to score a pair of 1-2s is just great for everyone in our team. Importantly we've maintained a decent gap to him as we're expecting him to have the upper hand next time."
Reigning Champion Neal, who is gunning for a record-equalling fourth title, said: "Gordon was unstoppable but a pair of seconds and a sixth are probably better than I thought was possible. We're expecting Silverstone to be tough but this really helps thinking ahead to Brands Hatch."
Double champion Plato added: "We've managed to hold the gap to the Honda drivers, even take a little nibble out of them, at what is one of the strongest circuits for their car so I'm satisfied with that. Ultimately I want us to go to the final round so there's a proper showdown for the people watching."
