Brands Hatch is gearing up for day two of the Lotus Festival today (Sunday), with Formula 1 demonstrations the highlight of a packed programme of entertainment. Yesterday crowds were treated to a full programme of racing plus parades from Lotuses, including the classic Elan, celebrating its 50th birthday.
Classic Team Lotus will be running World Championship-winning Type 49 and Type 79 racers, whilst cars from the post-Chapman era of Team Lotus will also be appearing on track. Meanwhile Lotus Cars and Lotus Racing will be showing off the T125 F1-style trackday car as well as the debut of the Exige V6 Cup.
In addition to track action from the Lotus Cup UK and Elise Trophy, a packed race programme includes a 50th anniversary celebration race for the Lotus Elan at 2pm. During the day Lotus rally cars, including the world-beating Sunbeam, will be sliding around the tarmac rally stage, which can be located behind Hailwoods restaurant. Adrenaline-pumping Super Rides in MSV's Peugeot 206 and Escort Cosworth rally cars can also be purchased for £25 from Hailwoods.
Trade stands, club displays, an air display at 1:30pm and even a Gold Medal-winning pursuit bike can also be found in Europe's biggest celebration of the charismatic sports and racing car marque. A full timetable of events can be found here.
