Lincolnshire's motorsport stars are gearing up to make their mark in front of tens of thousands of fans at their home round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park this August Bank Holiday weekend (25/26/27) as Lincoln's Alex Lowes leads the home charge.
The Lincolnshire young gun, tipped as a future champion, tested recently at Cadwell Park with his WFR Honda team in preparation for the forthcoming event. Despite a crash he was able to bounce back and set some impressive lap times which leaves him feeling confident of a strong performance this August Bank Holiday.
Lowes said: "It has been a good season. I have been using my head in the races and scored points rather than crash and that has meant that now we are closer to the top six riders and in a better position for the second half of the season. We tested recently at Cadwell Park and I think that will definitely help. It won't be easy but I want a great result at my home round and hopefully we can aim for a podium."
In the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, which supports the MCE BSB, Boston's Ben Wilson will be hoping that his home round will again be a happy hunting ground as he prepares to challenge for his first win of the season. The Gearlink Kawasaki rider needs a podium return at the challenging Lincolnshire circuit to close down title leader Jack Kennedy and multiple race-winner Glen Richards in the standings.
Wilson said: "Cadwell Park is a big round for me, I always get a lot of support there and in my mind there is no other option but to win. It has been a tough season for me but we have all been working hard so hopefully this is where we can turn it around."
