This weekend's Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch (18/19 August) will feature a whole range of attractions for enthusiasts of the British marque. An assault on the senses has been planned with action on and off track and even in the air!
Lotus are renowned for their success on the world's race tracks, but they also hold a manufacturers' title in the World Rally Championship. Back in 1981 the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus won big in the forests and the rear-wheel drive hatchback will feature alongside other sideways specials on the Brands Hatch tarmac rally stage, located behind Hailwoods restaurant. Fans can also get closer to the action with super rides available on both days in one of MSV's Peugeot 206s or Escort Cosworths for just £25.
Meanwhile above the circuit British stunt pilot Philip Ansell will be circling the skies at 1:30pm on Sunday in his Russian-built Yak-55 aircraft. Performing a range of stunts, the 1984 World Aerobatic Championship-winning plane will also be staging a stunning vertical tumble through the air known as the 'Lomchevak'.
There's a chance for spectators to get their breath back during Saturday evening with live music in a marquee located behind the Kart circuit. UnisoN Benz will be kicking off the entertainment at 7pm, before the headline act: performing at their second Lotus Festival, Geoff Leppard are the only band formed exclusively from Lotus enthusiasts.
Tickets for the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch this weekend are available on the gate for £21, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
