The BRDC Formula 4 Championship has confirmed its 13th and 14th
car orders for next year's inaugural season following the entry of
leading outfit Douglas Motorsport.
Run by McLaren Autosport BRDC finalist and former British Formula
Vauxhall Champion Wayne Douglas, the squad has more than 20 years
experience of helping top karting drivers step up into car
racing championships through their respected driver development
programme - many going on to win in premier race series such as
Formula Renault, GP3 and Formula 3.
This season, the team have two drivers currently lying in the top
six in the Ginetta Junior Championship, with Niall Murray and
Andrew Watson enjoying several race wins and podiums. Murray also
remains in the hunt for the title heading into the penultimate
rounds at Silverstone this weekend.
Team Principal Wayne Douglas said: "Having spoken with Jonathan
Palmer about this new championship his vision for the series,
coupled with the fantastic support of his MSV Group, was a key
factor in our decision to join for 2013. As a former McLaren
Autosport BRDC Award nominee myself, I understand first hand just
how significant the BRDC's support of the championship will be.
With our vast experience in similar single seater race cars, we
would aim to be a front running team from the off."
Formula 4 Series Director Jonathan Palmer added: "I'm delighted
Douglas Motorsport has decided to enter the BRDC F4 Championship
with two cars. Given all of Wayne's experience helping young
drivers, and having seen how professionally they approach the
Ginetta Junior series, they're well poised to be one of our leading
teams next year and I wish them every success."
