Multiple title winners Hillspeed have become the latest team to
commit to the BRDC Formula 4 Championship by purchasing the 15th
and 16th cars.
The Hathersage-based squad, run by Richard Ollerenshaw, boasts an
impressive record that includes title glory in the 2010 Formula
Renault BARC Championship with Alice Powell - who went on to race
in GP3 - and back-to-back Ginetta Junior crowns in 2010 and
2011.
Hillspeed also won the Formula Renault BARC team titles in 2008
and 2009 and the Winter Series driver titles in 2009 and 2011. In
2010 they embarked on their debut Ginetta Junior season taking Tom
Ingram to title success before going on to guide Seb Morris to a
dominant victory one year later.
They have also enjoyed success in Formula Renault UK and were a
dominant force in the ARP F3 Championship (now known as F3 Cup)
with back-to-back championship wins in 2000 and 2001.
Team Principal Richard Ollerenshaw said: "We're absolutely
delighted to be involved with the new BRDC Formula 4 Championship.
It provides an excellent opportunity for young drivers to make the
transition from karting into single seaters, and at sensible
budgets too. With the might of MSV and the BRDC behind it the
championship will, I'm sure, be a major success."
Jonathan Palmer, Formula 4 Series Director said: "I'm really
pleased to welcome Richard and his Hillspeed team to F4. They have
an outstanding record in every category they've competed in and
will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with next season."
